Not exactly your ordinary analyst job

Would you like to use your analytical and problem solving skills to serve your country and save lives?

As one of the UK’s three main intelligence agencies, along with MI5 and MI6, GCHQ intercepts communications and electronic signals from around the world to help protect British interests from threats at home and abroad.

We’re currently recruiting Intelligence Analysts to work at various locations, including our Cheltenham headquarters, in London and then, after your first posting, possibly overseas. The work is intellectually satisfying, constantly changing and will see your individual ingenuity make a direct and visible impact on national security.
Crypt Analysis
Using some of the most advanced computing in the world, Crypt Analysts understand and exploit ancient and modern communications technology, including, at its core, encryption (i.e. codes and ciphers). Working on some of GCHQ’s most exciting future-looking developments, you’ll be highly analytical, love problem solving and have the curiosity to investigate the unusual. Thinking laterally and creatively is important too, as is working on your own initiative and being part of a wider team.
Signals Intelligence Development
This is not just concerned with protecting the UK from immediate crises and threats. It’s about predicting what could happen in the future. Together with a flair for analysis and a naturally inquiring mind, you’ll have a fresh and innovative outlook that’s just as important as experience. Moreover, you’ll be comfortable with the latest IT and communications technology and have an interest in international current affairs.

Entry Requirements

To apply, you must be a British citizen. Opportunities are available for graduates with (or expecting to achieve) a 2:1 degree, or someone who has worked in an intelligence environment, including HM forces, within the last ten years. For more information and to apply, visit our website:
