Full Description:
Right now we’re fighting another world wide war. Not on the fields of Paschendale, the beaches of Dunkirk or the streets of Basra. This one’s in cyberspace. Online has become the new front-line.

If your interests and expertise lie in computer security and Information Assurance (IA), then our 450 strong CESG division is the definitive destination. Part of GCHQ, we’re the UK's National Technical Authority (NTA) for IA and have overall responsibility for protecting and promoting the vital interests of the UK by providing advice and assistance on the security of communications and electronic data. Our customers include central government, government departments and agencies, as well as many other organisations whose computers are critical to the UK’s national infrastructure – such as power, water and communications businesses. Quite simply, our brief is to safeguard current systems from risk and intrusion, and to future-proof systems against potential threat. We work with - and indeed help develop - vanguard technologies which deliver robust solutions that help protect Britain's well-being. And our expertise covers the full spectrum of IA work, creating an equally wide range of opportunities, many of which are unique to our organisation. Penetration & Intrusion testing and response involves:

Penetration Testing - Making the most of your excellent technical abilities you’ll assess the robustness of a system, product or technology to an attack.

Vulnerabilities - You’ll be responsible for identifying security risks, using your findings to develop effective countermeasures or mitigation strategies that harness cutting edge technologies. Using the latest tools and techniques, coupled with a strong technical ability, you’ll also detect potential breaches of security policy.

Intrusion Detection - Identifying and analysing attacks against HMG and the UK Critical National Infrastructure you’ll be researching malicious code, real-time network analysis, digital media, forensics, host analysis and honeynet technologies.

Incident Response - Analysing network computer incidents you’ll provide 1st and 2nd line support to Government and CNI networks covering everything from log analysis and denial of service to malware attacks.

In return for meeting these unique challenges you’ll receive equally impressive support, including mentoring, shadowing, personalised training and the chance to study for professional qualifications. To apply please click the Apply button below.

You must be a British citizen.
